We are building physics AI for space.
A new breed of AI systems that (1) understand what is happening in orbit from sparse observations, (2) reason about the physics that connects every part of a mission, (3) design hardware, software and operations together, (4) are explainable and can be trusted in operations.
Our goal is an AI that can dream up and build space missions no human team would think of, to solve problems we thought unsolvable.
Verra Space is developing a unified space design engine. It models the physics, from the photons collected by a sensor to the control systems on the ground, with state-of-the-art realism, end to end. Nothing is approximated away, so AI can trade every physical, software and operational choice in a mission against every other, and search a design space far too large to explore by hand. We teach a telescope to reverse engineer a satellite’s shape, materials and orientation from the few pixels of light it sees 500 km away. We teach a satellite to defend itself by learning and exploiting the weaknesses of the sensors watching it, making itself 50 times harder to track with nothing but the hardware it already carries.
As we expand into space, missions will have to deliver far more from what we have: more capability, more resilience and lower cost, in an environment that is more contested every year. Verra Space will advance physics AI research and develop applications where this matters most, starting with AI-native software for tracking what is in orbit, and extending to the design of the hardware, software and AI of a mission as one.
Founded by a team spanning frontier AI and space operations, with members who have built and launched over 300 satellites and created physical models used on NASA and ESA missions, Verra Space is a physics AI lab operating from London and the US.
We share one belief: AI for space has to be built by AI researchers and space operators together, from the ground up. That is how we build, and how we work with operators, mission designers and the research community.
